Megan's Favorite Things
-A Holiday Gift Guide-
This time of year is always so exciting! There is an undeniable chill in the air, excitement about the holidays ahead, and the over whelming desire to freshen up last year’s holiday décor! I personally get so excited about this time of year because it means that all the new Christmas décor is coming in, and brining brand new ideas with it. Sometimes it can be such an unfortunate blessing working in the home décor industry because you are able to catch the first glimpse of what’s new each season. I am constantly finding myself saying “Oh, I need this!”, “Oh my gosh I have-to-have that!”, “Aw my girls would love this!”, its truly never ending. I get asked a lot “Since you see everything what are your favorites?”, and well, here they are!
I love a wide variety of products, mostly because life has a wide variety of occasions. I like making the most of every occasion no matter how big or small. As a mom of two busy girls, a quiet moment with a cup of coffee can be an occasion, and should be treated as such. If I had to pick my favorite products going into the holiday season, the list would have to include a wide range of items that make a different part of my daily routine a little more special.
First and foremost, my hands-down favorite item on the floor at the moment is our Advent Tree
. I feel in today’s world we are all constantly buying things that are simply “on trend”, without any real thought or intention behind it. The Advent Tree in the store is not only made locally, by someone I know personally, but also carries a special place in my heart as on the back of each countdown number contains scripture to carry your family through the entire Advent Season. Being a mom of two young girls, this means the world to me as it offers an opportunity for family time and discussion about the Christmas season is really about.
My second pick this time of year is our Curly Girl Planner
. I should probably mention that I love EVERYTHING
Curly Girl! I have always been a sucker for good stationary, as I am sure every girl is, so when I can get my hands on a new planner it is like Christmas morning every time I use it. I love the Curly Girl planner mostly because of its whimsical design that serves as a constant remind for me to never take my days too seriously! I started using these planners last year, and because they last an entire 18 months, not just a year, it has become my lifeline of keeping appointments, events, and ideas straight in my mind (which is typically more like a scrambled egg.) Stationary is always a great gift, and because these planners in particular are so fun I love gifting them to friends and family!
Another personal favorite for me is our Tocca Perfume
. Being an on the go mom I rarely feel put together, much less pretty, most days which I am sure is completely normal. However, if I’m able to splash on a little perfume before I walk out of the door it completely changes my self-perception. Even though I truly love all of Tocca’s fragrances, Cleopatra is my favorite. Its citrus blend is perfect for me because its not too strong, but I can still tell I’m wearing it by the end of the day. It also doesn’t hurt that every time I wear it I get compliments constantly! I highly recommend ANY
of the Tocca products to moms on the go, because their packaging alone makes you feel like a million bucks when you put it on!
Entertaining is so much fun year round, but takes on a life of its own this time of year! While I am a terrible cook (and also hate cooking with a passion), I absolutely love decorating a table and creating fresh table settings! One of my most essential tabletop pieces is our Quatrefoil Wooden Placemats.
I love them in every color, but am partial to our set in Antique Gold. The subtle shimmer of the gold and the shape of the quatrefoil design mixed with the wooden material creates the perfect foundation for a unique setting to build from. When Andrew and I got married we did not register for china, or even everyday dishes for that matter, but instead chose to use my Grandmother’s original Blue Willow plate set. I have made it a personally challenge over years to see how many different ways I can mix and match to style them alongside some of my more trendier place settings. The moment I blend my blue willow with the gold of these placemats, the table practically sings! From there its easy, I layer on holiday specific dessert dishes and a touch of greenery for a look my guests will not see anywhere else! To have a great table, you must have extraordinary layers on top of layers which is why these placemats are my absolute favorite! After the party is over I simply wipe them down with a damp cloth and they are ready to make their next statement!
